I started writing this post, got half way through it and realised that it was all about using tarot and my relationship between what is going in in my mind, what is going on in life and what the Moon card has to say about it.
Last time I was in Toronto (the only time I was in Toronto) I bought four pairs of shoes at John Fluevog shop. Crazy, beautiful shoes. If he's still there, take a look! I was there in maybe early 2000s...
Ah! Thank you for reminding me about Fluevog. I was obsessed with him for a few years but never owned a pair of his shoes. Now may be the time to rectify that! x
well, first you did not use up all your wisdomosity for the day, because this was delightful and "revolutionary". and, as i keep procrastinating writing my own post, a worthy diversion! i always find a new discovery when i read you posts--now following Dan Crooks on IG, thank you very much! it has been too long since i have traveled to Canada (and right now they may not let me in--deep sigh.) i will look forward to hearing about your journey when you are there. speaking of journeys, i'll be in the UK end of april-through 3rd week of may! suggestions for Scotland??? and, as always, take care of your heart.
Amazing news re your travels. I'm away from mid April to 7th May. If you're in London at some point and fancy cake, hit me up.
Scotland-wise. We love the East Neuk, which is the stretch of coast between the Forth bridge and Dundee. Small, coastal villages that have a Cornish vibe. We love it so much we thought about moving there for a while. Anstruther has one of the best fish and chip shops I've ever been too, right on the harbour. Queues get long but it's worth the wait.
Cambo gardens at Kingsbarns is beautiful and the beach there is one of my favourites. Pittenweem has a fantastic tidal pool if you fancy a bit of fierce wild swimming.
A magnificent ice cream parlour in St Andrews - Jannetta's Gelateria. So good.
The new V&A in Dundee is glorious.
In Edinburgh we love Stockbridge for independent shops, great charity shops and delicious bakeries. It's got a village feel. We always make a point of going to the Chophouse, which is no fun if you're vegetarian but absolute bliss if you like perfect steak and their cocktails are on point. For Indian food we love Mother India. We are really fussy about Indian food because we lived in Leicester which has elite Indian food but Mother India is class.
In Glasgow I had one of the best breakfasts of my life in Cafe Strangebrew. We had to queue to get in because it was very small, but it's worth waiting for. I have almost eaten at a place called the Ubiquitous Chip several times but never quite made it, but I want to. Also, when we made a trip out to visit the Rennie Mackintosh Hill House in Helensburgh, it was closed and covered in scaffolding but I really want to go again when it's open and not covered in scaffolding.
If you're in the south-west then a trip to Wigtown to the bookshops is wonderful. Port Logan is beautiful and the botanic garden is well worth a visit.
My ambition is to go to the Isle of Mull and visit the cheese factory where Banjo Beale lives.
You are just the most delightful of all, my love! I definitely recommend Lake Louise in the Calgary / Banff part of the world. The COLOR. But honestly, I just want to hear what you two get up to on your own steam… I suspect that will be the best story. 🩷
London's King's Cross - coal drops yard - the lightroom ticks my box - and word on the water just there on the canal .. and making pies, peeling apples, watching clouds. Not taking down cobwebs and watching them move in those cracks of draft - socks - other people's dogs - books too - spotify - finding years in perfumes - doodling - drooling - coffee shops - big fat tiffs and play reading.
The transformation of King's Cross is fantastic isn't it? I remember going for a job interview round there in the early 2000's and thinking there was a strong chance I would get murdered and now it's delightful.
