β€œOne of my beliefs is that sweating out a cold is good for you.” This is true. My top tip? Wear a hat to bed. I’m not even joking. Like a beanie or even a scarf wrapped about the forehead. You will wake up in the morning feeling nasally dry, I promise. πŸ™Œ

Similarly, a husband I had once (one of mine; I didn't collect them or anything) told me of an Italian recipe to cure influenza, which was, he explained as he set about creating this for me (the one who ailed) to thickly slice a raw, peeled potato then set these slices atop the head of the patient, and afterwards wrap a scarf about said head to secure these in place while they slept.

I believe it had something to do with the heat from the ill person's body being absorbed by the starch but as I couldn't cope with the confines of the scarf I ended up throwing it all at him.

Ha ha! Someone told me that you should put raw onion in socks for a similar reason. I never have though.

Have you tried hot lemon, honey and ginger with a teaspoon of cider vinegar? It always works for me and even if it doesn't you'll have yet another old wives tale to hand on to the next generation.

I drank gallons of hot water with lemon squeezed into it. it seems to have done the trick. x

So glad to hear you are feeling better. Rumor has it that Vick’s Vaporub applied to the soles of the feet works a treat.
