Toronto meh, was my thought on it after visiting. A mini New York. That big waterfall nearby was quite cool though. As for food, I highly recommend the random Korean restaurant we visited, can't name, and could never possibly find again. We don't know what we ordered, but the seemingly endless stream of tiny dishes of "some kind of pickled vegetable" were all delicious. If you get beyond Toronto, Montreal was nice, with it's olde world charm and opportunities for speaking loudly and slowly at people in a foreign language. However, my favorite of the three major cities in this corner of Canadia was Ottawa, which everyone seems to declare is rather dull. Maybe that's says more about me than the city, but it felt calm and spacious. I could walk around with minimal anxiety. It also had a lovely market.
ah, Call the Midwife, always good for clearing the tear ducts. and Ted Lasso...miss that one. second season of Shrinking expanded on how a death continues to reverberate through lives as grief that i thought was well written and i really appreciated it.
perhaps it is migraine season as last week was a dozy for me too. but i remind myself it is just my body's way of saying "rest." i hope you are starting this week well rested.
anyway, i hope your new nest is revealed sooner than later. and that it is so so cozy.
We laughed in the face of the flooded cellar where the children sat on the stairs and wept because we wouldn’t let them swim in it.
This made me laugh a lot. As a fellow migraine sufferer I sympathise. Mine shifted from being debilitating to being visual. I lose vision and get swirly patterns now.
Always like getting the recommendations for books, art and focaccia.
Oof that’s a lot of things to be dealing with Katy. Glad there’s art and the promise of a vacation. I got excited at your mention of Greta and Valdin - I too read it last year and loved it!
Stick with Shrinking - we fell in love with it!
We are also loving it now. x
This is what I came to say. It’s gorgeous. And Harrison Ford is an unexpected comedy genius.
Loving it now.
Ooh Dunfeness, The Pilot! I caņ actually picture it! Home buying adventures.. how exciting! 🤩
Fingers crossed, x

I’m glad/relieved grotty stuff is offset by enjoying work and planning holidays, Katy. And hurrah for resilience. Fabulous read, as always.
Thanks. x
