Last week I went to a talk at the Garden Museum. Katy Hessel was in conversation with Flo Dill and Charlie Porter, talking about women and gardening, making and the intersection between gardening and the arts in their wider context.
This post has everything I love. Derek Jarman, gardens Olivia Laing's books and I really love Charlie Porter's writing too. I loved What artists wear and have yet to read Bring No Clothes as it's sitting on my shelf. Thanks.
Part time art thief (did I read it right?) indeed!. And YES to bringing back capes for everyday wear. Can’t wait to see what you create for the garden.
Yes! Part time art thief and yes to capes even though my new glasses plus hairstyle make me look more like Edna from the Incredibles than ever and she was very anti cape!

Ah! I'm so glad you liked it. Thank you. x
I’m so looking forward to seeing your cape and how your words and feelings are woven into what you create.
Love this! I’ve been obsessed with Derek Jarman’s garden since I was about 8. It looked so otherworldly in Dungeness then.
I didn't discover him until I was in my twenties, but yes, otherworldly is such a good descriptor. xx

Lovely writing. And next year there is a mega exhibition on garden design at V&A Dundee. Not exactly handy, I know!
Oh, I love the V&A in Dundee. Maybe a road trip will have to be organised.
