I knew a band that lived together in a chaotic townhouse; anyone who visited was expected to bring an offering. This was usually food, but could also be found objects because they were doing art, too. They had some great stuff but at one point the senior band member was a butternut squash who had been hanging around for well over a year, still hard as a rock. When he started turning bright orange they made him an altar where he remained, as far as I know, until they were evicted for noise.
One day we will discover sacred and mysterious things about the butternut squash community and then we will all be worshipping them. I love this story.
Thank you. I always feel transported into your world and into new worlds, reading your posts. x
Thank you. x
Really enjoyed this, Katy. Derek’s pen-stealing phase reminds me of Slinky Malinki (Lynley Dodd’s picture book about a thieving cat).
Love the squares of light of different lives. Bit like Substack!
A lot like substack, yes. x
Oh I loved every bit of this. I’m still not over how cool it is that you get to live there and how lucky we are that you share it with us.
It is a bit like a dream, isn't it? x
The final paragraph of this! 💫Pure magic 🌃
Thank you. x
The stationery shop! The mournful BNS! Susan! What a lovely snapshot of your life x
that BNS was a silent menace!
Ahhh I love this, you sound happy! 😍
xx
Ah! So beautiful! And Derek’s stationery shop is my new favorite business. 😻
I really must think up a good name for it.
Lovely writing, as usual.
Thank you. x

Derek - quite a character, isn't she?!
She is. She is one of a kind!
