Such a delightful essay! Your descriptions are enchanting. I’d love to pop over to Brussels for moules et frites, but sadly I’m on the other side of the pond.
He should! I love Wilbur. I am hoping to find a George, who is only relevant for old people like me who remember Simon and the Witch. Simon's witch owned George and George used to eat all the furniture if she left him out of their adventures.
You are such a brilliant funny writer, thank you so much for making me laugh...and annoying my husband by reading so many bits out loud. 12 out of 10, would definitely recommend!
Loved this as always Katy! Tempted to make the trip across town to Canary Wharf to become acquainted with this characterful menagerie. Thank you for bringing it to life so colourfully. Delighted you have been ‘discovered’, much deserved!
I love that all the animals are now characters that I hope to see in a future soap opera Katy! I like dogs, I’m not keen on cats, but they seem to like me, which always makes for an interesting relationship. My husband is Dr Doolittle or a Buddhist, I’ve not yet decided. He refuses to harm any creature including ants, spiders and yes he’d quite happily converse with the rat. I’m glad I discovered you this week too!

Well, if you ever make it back this side, they will still be waiting. Brussels seems to run on moules frites!
That black cat sounds unnervingly like Winnie the Witch’s Wilbur - perhaps he should become a rainbow cat on a rainbow boat!

ha ha! Thank you. x
Glorious, as ever. Your descriptions of the animals about your environs is a feast for the imagination!
They write themselves, they are such characters!

You would be more than welcome! xx

My oldest, Tilly is like your husband. She is a friend to all creatures and won't hear a bad word said against them.
I love that Katy. It’s a beautiful thing. My friend is an animal communicator, maybe Tilly is too. 💫🙏
